My first post

I have been working on doing my own hats for a while now, normally I don't work off a pattern and just create.  This has the disadvantage that it takes a long time to do, sometimes I would do a custom hat and it would take hours to get the sizing just right.  One day my husband suggested I start writing down my patterns and selling them.  My first thought was that I could never do something like that...but then I thought about it and realized I could actually do this!  There are a lot of people out there selling patterns, but every one has something a little unique that they offer.  Here is a little of what makes my patterns unique:

Sizes: One of the most common emails I receive is "Can you make this hat in a custom size, my child has a really big head?!?"  Having received countless measurements of heads I realized one thing, sizing on hats is really horrible!  When working on my patterns I decided not to label the hats in certain age-related sizes, but instead of break them down into measurements.  So to get the right size, measure your little one's head and choose the hat circumference that best matches!  No guessing what "1 to 3 years" or "3-6 months" means, just a good fit.

Ears: My animal hats have unique ears.  Ears aren't something I really noticed until I started designing hats myself.  Whether they are bears, cows, rabbits or sock monkeys, everybody does them different.  It is hard to describe how they are different, but I hope you like the way I do them.  It actually takes a lot of sketching and practicing to get just the right shape and I am very proud to say that every one of my ears is completely designed by me.

I will continue to blog on what I am working on and will even have a few free patterns I hope you will try.

We have to apologize for being absent lately.  As some of you may know Amanda had a sudden and unforeseen tragedy in her family so she had to take a bit of time off from her pattern designing.  She's back at it now and we should have a couple new patterns for you very soon.  For now how about a sneak peek at the pattern that will be released next ...

Cute right!!  We will work at getting this one posted as soon as possible.  There will also be a boyish version of this hat in the future as well.

For now how about some help naming this cute little hat - any and all ideas will be considered.
